Winter Outdoors Series

We love Maine Winters!

Teens to Trails has teamed up with Hidden Valley Nature Center, Camden Snow Bowl, Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, Winter Kids, and Black Mountain of Maine to create events that are designed to make winter planning easy for your Outdoor Club!

Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025: Hidden Valley Nature Center, 10 am - 4 pm
We'll have the campfire going all day with cooking opportunities and a build-your-own pizza bar. Students can also enjoy activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, kick sledding, and shelter building (weather dependent). Explore the miles of trails with your outdoor club! We’ll have volunteers leading bike rides and x-country skiing loops.

Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025: Range Pond State Park, Ice Fishing with Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, 9 am - 4 pm
Bring your Outdoor Club to Range Pond in Poland Spring to learn about ice fishing with MDIFW staff and game wardens. Students can try drilling holes with a manual or gas-powered auger, learn what kinds of fish there are to catch, and set up traps. Hopefully, the fish will be biting! Teens to Trails Program Manager, Sam Andrews, will also lead a snowshoe hike around the pond between 10-11 am. Bring your own or borrow a pair! This event is FREE.
