About Teens to Trails
Teens to Trails’ mission is toprovide life-changing outdoor experiences to Maine students. Our vision is that all students have the ability to enjoy the outdoors together. We help middle and high schools create Outdoor Clubs which provide inclusive outdoor experiences that break down social barriers and build lifelong habits of wellness and stewardship. We also offer a range of local and state-wide outdoor programming and advocacy to help inspire schools and communities and engage more Maine students in the outdoors.
Founded in 2006, Teens to Trails is based in Brunswick, has an operating budget of $450,000 and is led by a committed staff and engaged Board of Directors.
Position Description
Teens to Trails is seeking a Development Manager committed to helping youth attain all the benefits of spending time outdoors, together. We seek a conscientious fundraising professional who will add perspective, take initiative, and ensure stable and sustainable growth of our donor, sponsor, and grant portfolio.
The Development Manager will be an essential part of the Teens to Trails team, taking a leadership role in supporting and expanding our mission-aligned philanthropy. S/he/they must be a confident and persuasive communicator in person, in writing, and on-screen as well as an analytical, systematic, and thoughtful teammate. As a key member of a small non-profit staff, the Development Manager should also expect to collaborate and participate in other areas of our work.
Specifics:
Events
Primary responsibility for planning and executing mission-aligned events throughout the year, including our signature fundraiser, Bow Ties and Bean Boots
Manage any outside contractors and partners providing support with events
Corporate Support
Secure corporate sponsors for each of our signature programs and fundraising events
Research and expand opportunities for corporate sponsorships and support, particularly in areas of the state where we provide programming, but have opportunities for additional corporate sponsorship
Steward a variety of business relationships with effective communications, acknowledgements and access opportunities throughout the year
Foundation Support
With the Executive Director, research potential foundation support and create grant applications and fulfillment timelines, track deadlines, and assist with impact reports.
Individual Giving
Maintain our donor database; supervising gift processing, data entry, and acknowledgments.
Steward a portfolio of individual donors
Generate monthly fundraising reports for the Executive Director and for the Board of Directors.
Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns and all related digital and print materials in conjunction with the Executive Director and Communications and Outreach Manager
With the Executive Director, work to expand our base of individual donors
Build out additional opportunities for major gifts and program for recurring donors
Communications
Collaborate with the Communications and Outreach Manager to establish a digital fundraising plan and related messaging, including social media and e-newsletters.
Supervision: This position reports to the Executive Director. The Development Manager has no direct reports.
Location + Hours: This position will initially be 3 days/week (~24 hours), but may have the opportunity to expand in the future with the right person. This is a hybrid position, with 1-2 days a week on site in our Brunswick office. Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required for special meetings and events. Frequent regional and occasional statewide travel to meet with stakeholders in person will also be required.
Salary: This is an hourly position with a salary range of $28-$31/hour, depending on experience. Teens to Trails offers a health and wellness stipend, generous time off and holiday schedules, and a Simple IRA with company match.

Must have a valid Driver’s license and access to transportation
