Teens to Trails Awards 2025 Grants to Clubs

We are excited to announce the 2025 Grants to Clubs recipients, providing funding to 21 Outdoor Clubs across Maine. These grants help middle and high schools remove financial barriers so more teens can access meaningful outdoor experiences throughout the year.

Thanks to the continued support of L.L.Bean, the Grants to Clubs program helps schools cover essential costs such as transportation, trip fees, and outdoor trainings. This support makes outdoor learning accessible to all students, regardless of background or experience.

Outdoor Clubs will use their grant funds for a wide range of activities this year, including skiing and snowboarding, sea kayaking, snow tubing, Wilderness First Aid training, overnight trips, hiking, biking, ice fishing, and participation in Teens to Trails programs. Many schools noted that this funding is critical for keeping their clubs free or low-cost for students.

As Baxter Academy for Technology and Science Outdoor Club advisor Christian Bertelsen shared while planning their culminating trip to Baxter State Park: “For many of them, this will be their first time in such a wild place.”

Outdoor Clubs give students opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, strengthen peer connections, and discover a lifelong love of the outdoors, one trip at a time. A small investment can remove real barriers, and these grants help students build confidence, connection, and joy in the outdoors.
